Three basic parameters should be determined in cylinder selection

Dec 31, 2019

1,Output force of cylinder selection

According to the required force of the working mechanism, the thrust or pull force on the piston rod is determined by considering the load rate of the cylinder, so as to determine the inner diameter.

Because the working pressure of the cylinder is small (0.4-0.6mpa), its output will not be large, generally around 10000n (not more than 20000n), and its volume (diameter) will increase if the output force is too large. Therefore, the expansion mechanism should be adopted as far as possible in the pneumatic equipment to reduce the size of the cylinder.

2,The stroke of the cylinder when selecting the type of cylinder

The stroke of cylinder (piston) is related to its application and the stroke ratio of working mechanism. In most cases, the full stroke should not be used to avoid the collision between the piston and the cylinder head. Especially when it is used for clamping and other mechanisms, in order to ensure the clamping effect, an additional 10-20 mm margin must be added according to the calculated stroke.

3,The moving speed of the cylinder in the selection of the cylinder

The movement speed of the cylinder is mainly determined by the need of the driving mechanism.

When the speed is required to be slow and stable, it is better to use gas-liquid damping cylinder or throttle for speed regulation. The throttling and speed regulating methods include: exhaust throttling is recommended for horizontal installation of thrust load; intake throttling is recommended for vertical installation of lifting load. See the content of basic circuit for specific installation circuit. The cushion cylinder can prevent the cylinder from impact at the end of the stroke. Generally, the cushion effect is obvious when the resistance load and the speed of the cushion cylinder are not high. If the speed is high, the travel terminal will often produce impact.

The above contents are three basic parameters to be paid attention to when selecting cylinder specifications.
