Emerging industries continue to attract more young people

The "2023 Employment Relationship Trend Report" recently released by Zhaopin Recruitment shows that the rapid development of the digital economy has spawned a large number of new occupations, bringing more job opportunities, new manufacturing, new energy, new consumption and other emerging fields to release a massive demand for employment, and industrial changes lead the new direction of employment.

From January to June 2023, the number of jobs in the new energy industry grew by 36.1% year-on-year, and the number of jobs in the industrial automation industry in the new manufacturing field grew by 6.9% year-on-year. It is worth mentioning that industrial automation is not only a part of the emerging industry itself, but also the technology and product supporters of intelligent production and manufacturing. Its recruitment growth not only shows the vigorous momentum of new manufacturing, but also reflects the heat of digital transformation in various industries.

At the same time, cross-industry job seekers looking for employment in the new energy industry also have a clear trend of younger people. From 2021 to the first half of 2023, the proportion of cross-industry job seekers aged 16-25 increased from 19.8% to 19.8%The proportion of cross-industry job seekers with less than three years of work experience increased from 6.1% to 22.8%. Young people are optimistic about the development prospect of the new energy industry and regard it as the preferred platform to realize their personal value.

Compared with 2022, the proportion of digital talents absorbed by the production/processing/manufacturing industry will expand from 12.6 percent to 17 percent in the first half of 2023. The energy/mining/environmental protection industries are also expanding rapidly, with the share of digital job recruitment demand rising from 4 percent last year to 6.3 percent in the first half of this year. This change in the ratio reflects the manufacturing and energy industries' improved ability to digest digital jobs compared with other industries.
