Ministry Of Commerce: My Country's Exports Are Expected To Maintain Good Momentum in The First Half Of The Year
Jun 08, 2021
Recently, Gao Feng, spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, said at a press conference that since this year, my country’s exports have maintained rapid growth. A questionnaire survey conducted on more than 20,000 companies participating in the 129th Canton Fair shows that 43.2% of companies have orders on hand for more than three months. Judging from the survey of localities, industries and enterprises, my country's exports are expected to continue to maintain a good momentum in the first half of this year. Gao Feng also pointed out that the Ministry of Commerce will continue to do a good job in ensuring the supply and price stabilization of bulk commodities, actively promote import diversification, ensure transportation capacity, strengthen transportation tariff supervision and other aspects to strengthen foreign trade stability.
Previous data showed that from January to April this year, my country's foreign trade development continued its growth momentum. The "three major plans" of superior import and export, trade industry integration and unimpeded trade were fully promoted. The total import and export value reached 11.62 trillion yuan, an increase of 28.5 year-on-year. %, the scale hit a record high over the same period in history.
However, the analysis pointed out that my country’s foreign trade still faces a series of challenges. Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics released data showing that the new export order index in May was 48.3%, 2.1 percentage points lower than the previous month, and fell below the threshold, reflecting a decrease in foreign orders compared with the previous month and insufficient external demand. In addition, since the second half of last year, companies have generally reported that they are facing difficulties and challenges such as rising raw material prices, large exchange rate fluctuations, and poor shipping logistics.
In this regard, Gao Feng said that the Ministry of Commerce will continue to do a good job in ensuring the supply and price stability of bulk commodities in accordance with the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, actively promote import diversification, strengthen international cooperation, and build a mutually beneficial and win-win bulk commodity trading channel. At the same time, we will strengthen departmental collaboration and continue to increase work in terms of ensuring capacity and strengthening freight rate supervision. It will also further promote the reform of "delegating control and service", optimize the business environment, reduce enterprise costs, and adopt practical and targeted measures to support the stable operation and healthy development of various foreign trade enterprises, especially small, medium and micro foreign trade enterprises.
