How to select the right cylinder seal quickly?

1. Determine whether the sealed mechanical equipment belongs to static seal (fixed) or dynamic seal (reciprocating, rotating, spiral)

Direction of movement: first determine the direction of movement of the location of the seal, such as reciprocating, rotating, spiral or fixed.

2. Key points of sealing

Determine whether the seal is internal rod seal or external piston seal. After understanding the mechanical operation mode, we need to determine the application environment of the seal (such as working temperature, size and other basic specifications).

3. Seal temperature

Consult the instructions of the original machine or evaluate the working temperature according to the actual working environment to determine the required materials.

4. Seal pressure

The pressure of the seal can refer to the following three methods:

(1) Check the working pressure of the seal according to the instructions of the original machine.

(2) The pressure rating is inferred by observing the hardness and structure of the seal used.

(3) Use hardness tester to test the pressure level of sealing ring.

5. Seal Size

Most users will buy according to the used old samples, but after using for a period of time, the seals will be greatly affected by temperature, pressure, wear and other factors, and the selection according to the samples can only be used as a reference. The better way is to measure the metal groove size where the seal is located, and the accuracy will be higher.
