Performance requirements of throttle valve

The performance requirements for throttle valve are as follows:


·The flow adjustment range is large, and the flow pressure difference changes smoothly;


·The internal leakage is small, if there is an external leakage port, the external leakage is also small;


·The adjusting torque is small and the action is sensitive.


The shape and structure of the throttle valve are the same as that of the stop valve, but the shape of the opening and closing parts is different. The opening and closing parts of throttle valve are mostly cone streamline type, through which the cross-sectional area of channel can be changed to adjust the flow and pressure. The throttle valve is used to reduce the medium pressure in case of great pressure drop.



The flow rate of the medium between the disc and the seat of the throttle valve is very high, so that the surface of these parts will be damaged quickly - so-called cavitation phenomenon. In order to minimize the impact of cavitation, the valve disc is made of anti cavitation material (alloy steel) and streamlined cone with tip angle of 140-180, which can also make the valve disc have a larger opening height, and it is generally not recommended to throttle under a small gap.
