Shortcomings of pneumatic components:


1. Because of the compressibility of air, the action speed of cylinder is easily changed by the change of load. This defect can be overcome by gas-liquid linkage.


2. When the cylinder moves at low speed, the low-speed stability of the cylinder is worse than that of the hydraulic cylinder because the friction force accounts for a larger proportion of the thrust force.


3. Although in many applications, the output force of cylinder can meet the working requirements, but its output force is smaller than that of hydraulic cylinder.


Advantages of pneumatic components:


1. The pneumatic device is simple in structure, portable and easy to install and maintain. Medium is air, which is not easy to burn compared with hydraulic medium, so it is safe to use.


2. The working medium is inexhaustible air and the air itself does not cost money. The exhaust treatment is simple, does not pollute the environment, and has low cost.


3. It is very easy to adjust the output force and working speed. The speed of cylinder is generally less than 1M/S, which is faster than that of hydraulic and electrical modes.


4. High reliability and long service life. The number of effective actions of electrical components is about one million times, while the life of general solenoid valves is more than 30 million times, and some valves with good quality are more than 200 million times.


5. By utilizing the compressibility of air, energy can be stored and centralized gas supply can be realized. It can release energy in short time to obtain high-speed response in intermittent motion. Buffer can be achieved. It has strong adaptability to impact load and overload. Under certain conditions, the pneumatic device can be self-retaining.


6. Full pneumatic control has the ability of fire prevention, explosion proof and moisture proof. Compared with hydraulic mode, pneumatic mode can be used at high temperature.


7. Compressed air can be supplied centrally and transported remotely.

It can be seen that both the characteristics of the pneumatic components themselves and the role they play are very good and have good practical significance. However, its short plates do limit its development to a certain extent. However, with the development of technology, its functions will be strengthened, its advantages will be more obvious, and its short plates will be less and less.
