Requirements of hydraulic seals for sealing devices

Jul 15, 2021

Hydraulic seals are the most important and effective means to solve the leakage problem of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. If the system is poorly sealed, there may be unallowable leakage, and the leaked oil will pollute the environment; it may also allow air and dust to enter the system, affecting the working performance of the system and the smoothness of the actuator movement (such as crawling); leakage In severe cases, the volumetric efficiency of the system is too low, and even the working pressure cannot reach the required value. If the sealing is excessive, although leakage can be prevented, it will cause severe abrasion of the sealing part, shorten the service life of the seal, increase the frictional resistance in the hydraulic components, and reduce the mechanical efficiency of the system. Therefore, reasonable selection and design of sealing devices are very important in the design of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

1. The requirements of hydraulic seals for sealing devices

(1). It should have good sealing performance within the working pressure and a certain temperature range, and it can automatically improve the sealing performance as the pressure increases.

(2). The friction between the sealing device and the moving parts should be small, and the friction coefficient should be stable.

(3). Strong corrosion resistance, not easy to age, long working life, good wear resistance, and can automatically compensate to a certain extent after wear.

(4). Simple structure, convenient use and maintenance, and low price.
